Epic Fencing Club

Founded in 1982, Epic Fencing Club is Calgary's Premier Fencing club.The club is committed to providing the best experience for our members, providing beginner to advanced lessons for both children and adults in all three fencing weapons (epée, foil, and sabre).

Epic winning team mens foil at the 2002 NationalsOver the years, several members of our club have been selected for Canada's National Team. In 2004, one of our top athletes, Catherine Dunnette, represented Canada at the Athens' Olympics in Women's Team Epee.

Epic Head Coach Peter DrevenkaPeter Drevenka is in his first season as a head coach of the Epic Fencing Club. In 2010, he was an assistant coach beside Mr. Leslie Palmai. A 2006 graduate of University of Szeged in Hungary, Peter came to Epic Fencing Club from Hungary, where he was the coach of the University of Szeged Fencing Club and also the Szeged Fencing Club. He has been coaching since 2000.

He got lots of help, advice, and tips from the following coaches: Mr.Zoltan Dudas (head coach of Princeton University), Mr Leslie Palmai (head coach of the Epic Fencing Club) Mr. Antal Solti (master coach of the Hungarian National Foil Team), Mr. Ferenc Toth (foil captain of the Danish Fencing Federation).

In Hungary, his best student was Robert Paluch (1990) who got the 3rd place in the National Championship (age 12) in foil. From his age 15, he always was in the top 10 fencers in Hungary. In 2005 he got the 8th place in Bratislava, Coupe de Samorin. In 2007 he finalised the season in 6th place in the junior category. His brother David Paluch won 5rd place in the National Championship (age 12) in foil in 2006.

Our custom-built training facility is the best in the country and is among the top in North America. It is fully equipped and provides a fun and safe environment for members to develop their skills.
